We’ve all seen them sitting behind the glass counter at estate sales and thrift shops: those massive, heavy jars tightly packed with tangled metal, colorful beads, and a layer of mystery dust. To most people, it’s a pile of discarded trinkets. To a reseller, it’s the ultimate treasure hunt.
On a recent sourcing trip, I decided to trust my gut and purchase a heavily taped bulk jewelry jar. I brought it home to the studio, grabbed my loop tool, and dumped the entire thing out.
The results did not disappoint. Here is the breakdown of exactly what was hiding inside—ranging from stunning artisan art glass to classic vintage statement brooches!
🌌 Part 1: The Artisan Art Glass Jackpots
The real weight of the jar came from an incredible assortment of heavy, masterfully crafted artisan glass pendants. If you train your eyes to look for glasswork over cheap plastic, you can score big.
- Ecclissi Artisan Cobalt Blue Heart Necklace: The first piece I untangled was this breathtaking piece from Ecclissi. It features a striking cobalt blue dichroic glass heart pendant strung on a 20-inch multi-strand seed bead necklace.
- Borosilicate Spiral Nebula Teardrop Pendant: Next up was a heavy, 2-inch borosilicate glass teardrop pendant. Looking closely, the glass contains a beautifully intricate blue and white spiral nebula design swirling deep within the core.
- Honeycomb Dot Stack Lampwork Necklace: Continuing the art glass streak, I pulled out an 18-inch artisan lampwork necklace featuring a borosilicate glass pendant decorated with a mesmerizing honeycomb dot stack pattern.
- Murano-Style Millefiori Donut Pendant: A classic Italian-inspired favorite! This vibrant, Murano-style Millefiori glass donut pendant came complete with a clean silver bail and chain, bursting with miniature glass flower patterns.
🎭 Part 2: Funky Brooches & Statement Pins
Vintage pins have a massive collector base on eBay and Etsy. This jar yielded some wonderfully character-rich fashion pieces.
- 2004 Vintage Red Hat Society Brooch: This charming gold-toned pin features a classic enamel and rhinestone design celebrating the iconic Red Hat Society lady. It’s highly collectible for nostalgia lovers!
- Gold-Toned Mardi Gras Mask Brooch: A beautifully smooth, gold-toned theatrical mask brooch pin accented with a brilliant rhinestone right at the crown. It’s the perfect statement piece.
- Vintage Sunburst Clip-On Brooch: This bold, textured gold-tone sunburst brooch features a gorgeous, purple mottled glass cabochon right at the center.
💍 Part 3: Everyday Glamour, Rings & Brands
Finally, tucked into the bottom of the jar were the daily wearables—including a stunning sparkler and some popular modern jewelry brands.
- Vintage Faux Pearl Clip-On Earrings: A timeless set of gold-toned oval clip-ons embedded with large faux pearls and a subtle rim of glittering rhinestone accents.
- CUYA “Aurora” London Blue Topaz Simulated Ring: My jaw dropped a bit when I measured this one on the mandrel. It is a stunning size 5.75 CUYA “Aurora” ring showcasing a cushion-cut London Blue Topaz and Paraiba simulated gemstone, flanked by encrusted bands.
- Set of 2 Alex and Ani Gold-Plated Bracelets: Proving that modern trend brands hide in these jars too! I rescued a pair of gold-plated, energy-infused Alex and Ani expandable wire bangles—one featuring a “Believe” charm and the other a cozy winter mitten.
Zee’s Unboxing Takeaway: Never skip the jewelry jars! While sorting through tangled knots takes patience, finding unique artisan glasswork and signed vintage brooches makes the hunt completely worth it.
